The Arsenal defender’s potential loan move to Celtic is in doubt.

Celtic have been linked with a loan move for Arsenal’s Krystian Bielik but the deal has now been placed in doubt after the defender suffered a hamstring injury.

Bielik is the subject of interest from Celtic regarding a temporary deal, as reported by The Daily Record, but the centre-back is now set to be sidelined for between three and five weeks.

Alex Brosque of Sydney FC controls the ball over Krystian Bielik of Arsenal during the match between Sydney FC and Arsenal FC at ANZ Stadium on July 13, 2017 in Sydney, Australia.

If the prognosis for Bielik’s injury is correct then he won’t be back playing until after the transfer window has closed, which means a move to Celtic may not take place.

Bielik has endured much misfortune with injuries and the Polish youngster, who excelled on loan at Birmingham City in the second half of last season, was prevented from heading out on temporary transfer last summer due to a dislocated shoulder.

Krystian Bielik #37 of Arsenal is defended by Jose Vazquez #23 of Chivas de Guadalajara at StubHub Center on July 31, 2016 in Carson, California.

Celtic may, therefore, have to turn their attention elsewhere as they look to bring in another defender, with the club in need of another option in that department after Erik Sviatchenko joined Midtjylland on loan.

Given his composure on the ball and reputation for making well-timed challenges, Bielik would have been a great loan signing for Celtic, but they must now move on quickly and look for an alternative option.
