West Ham United moved into their new home last summer, and Tottenham Hotspur are set to complete their stadium switch next year.
Hammers legend Frank McAvennie sat down for an exclusive interview with the East London Advertiser, and made a bold prediction regarding his former club’s future at the London Stadium.
West Ham moved into their new home last summer, but struggled to adjust to the larger size of the pitch, and managed to win only seven home games in the Premier League all season long – the fifth worst record in the division.
And McAvennie, who scored 16 goals in 68 league outings for the Hammers, told the East London Advertiser how his former club should have adopted the same approach as London rivals Spurs, by building their new stadium on the land of their old ground:

“I don’t think they will be in that stadium in five years time. I would lilke somebody to come and if Mr Gold and Mr Sullivan want out, to sell to one of the big boys. I like Tottenham, they’re doing the right thing building a stadium next to White Hart Lane, that’s what we should have done at Upton Park. I don’t think West Ham will stay there, I have a feeling it’s not forever.”
West Ham fans will be hoping for a major turnaround this season, and are expecting some big name signings during the off-season, after the disappointment they had to endure in last summer’s transfer window.
Slaven Bilic has made no progress thus far, however, as his search for top flight talents continues to be as illusive as it is tedious.
There is still a month or so before the new campaign kicks off though, so all is not lost…yet.
