Diafra Sakho has hardly featured for West Ham United this season.

Hammers striker Diafra Sakho sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and elaborated on his wonderful relationship with the West Ham fans.

The Senegal international has had to endure an extremely frustrating campaign this season, and has made just three appearances due to a succession of niggling injuries, including a long-standing back problem that doesn’t seem to want to go away.

The 27-year-old made the move to East London from Metz in the summer of 2014, for a fee believed to be in the region of £3.5 million, and instantly endeared himself to the Hammers faithful with his dynamic, high-energy displays.

And Sakho told WHUFC.com how he has missed the interaction he shared with the West Ham fans, explaining how he hopes to hear them sing his name again soon:

“I think about the fans a lot and I hope they still love me. They had their song ‘He scores when he wants!’ about me and I hope they have put that in their pockets and when I come back, I can score one, two or three goals and they can bring that song out again!”

Slaven Bilic has been the target of heavy criticism this season, but in all fairness to the Croatian, he has had to cope with more first team injuries than most managers in the Premier League.

And it could be argued that had Sakho been fit for the entire campaign, West Ham would be in a far more comfortable position than the 14th spot they currently occupy.
