Rangers have sealed their fifth signing of the transfer window, bringing in Greg Docherty from Hamilton.

Docherty has signed a four and a half year deal at Ibrox, BBC Sport reported, after completing his medical this week.

The midfielder is even in line to make his debut for the Gers this weekend.

Docherty sent a message via Twitter to Hamilton fans, stating that he had enjoyed ‘every minute’ of his time at the club.

His message was received with mixed emotions from Hamilton fans, who expressed that they were ‘gutted’ by his departure.

Others wished him well, with the caveat they look forward to Hamilton taking on Rangers when they next meet in the Premiership.

Here is a look at the responses…

Rangers have had a tough time in recent seasons buying players from Scottish sides, and when they have, there has been a lot of bitterness at the move, see Ryan Jack’s exit from Aberdeen last summer.

On this occasion Docherty leaves with disappointment but not fury, with Hamilton fans recognising his reasons for moving on.

Their admiration for the midfielder shows just why Rangers fans should be so pleased by his arrival at Ibrox, and look forward to him making his debut.
