Rangers battered Brian Rice’s Hamilton 5-0 in a Scottish Premiership clash at New Douglas Park.

Hamilton were battered 5-0 by a ruthless Rangers side recently but head coach Brian Rice has hardly wallowed in self pity, instead deciding to take inspiration from Steven Gerrard’s clinical side, as reported by the Daily Record.
The Gers produced arguably their best performance of the season at New Douglas Park in late February. Goals from Ryan Jack, Jermain Defoe, Scott Arfield, James Tavernier and even Kyle Lafferty were all on target for a side who’s away form has often left a lot to be desired.
In fairness to Hamilton, however, they responded in style, bouncing back immediately with a 2-0 win against Aberdeen last time out. That was their first win at Pittodrie in nine years.
And, speaking to the Daily Record, Rice has admitted that he learned a lot from a Rangers side who have been much improved since Gerrard took over.
“I keep going back to it, but Rangers inspired me on Sunday,” Rice said.

“I saw how hard they worked, how they got on the ball and made angles, and we went in on Monday morning and started working on that – on Wednesday night we got our just rewards.”
Rangers were knocked out of the Europa League in the group stages, lost to Aberdeen in the Scottish League Cup semi-final and remain eight points adrift of Celtic in the league table.
But the performances under Gerrard compared to Pedro Caixinha and Mark Warburton are night and day. The Glasgow giants are on the right track again and it would be no surprise if they turned the Scottish Premiership into a two-horse race again soon.
