Leeds United landed Pierre-Michel Lasogga on loan from Hamburg and he has enjoyed a promising start to life at Elland Road.
Pierre-Michel Lasogga might have only been a Leeds United player less than two months but supporters are already fearing the prospect of the striker returning to Hamburg at the end of the season.
But while Lasogga has thrived in England, scoring three goals already, Hamburg are toiling without him. A stunning start to the campaign has given way to the usual struggle with Markus Gisdol’s side without a league goal since the 25th of August.
It should perhaps come as little surprise, then, that Hamburg appear to have had a change of heart concerning Lasogga’s future.
“If Pierre has a good season, he could also play a role with a lot of fresh self-confidence,” sporting director Jens Todt told the Hamburger Morgenpost when discussing the prospect of Lasogga being back in their side next season.
A lack of fitness and form had restricted Lasogga to just 13 goals in 76 Bundesliga appearances across three seasons before moving to Elland Road in the summer. But the German has shown signs of getting back to his 2014 heyday and his parent club are crying out for a goalscorer to lead the line.
Though Leeds surely will do everything in their power to keep Lasogga at the club long term.
