Pierre-Michel Lasogga was signed by Leeds United as a replacement for Chris Wood.
Leeds United lost their key player this summer, when New Zealand international striker Chris Wood made a big money move to Premier League side Burnley. His loss was considered a massive blow for the West Yorkshire side’s promotion hopes. However, they looked to have found an adequate replacement with the signature of German striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga.

Signed on loan from Bundesliga side Hamburg he scored twice on his debut against Burton Albion and has five goals in 11 appearances for the club so far. So the news, reported by Kicker today (via Fussball Transfers), that Hamburg are open to letting Lasogga join Leeds permanently could be seen as positive. It is claimed that despite there being no agreement in his loan deal for an eventual permanent switch, Hamburg would be keen on making his stay at Elland Road long-term.
But would Leeds want to do so?
Despite his excellent start and impressive goal return, his form has not convinced every Leeds supporter. His recent showing against Brentford was appalling and many critics suggest he may be overweight for the Championship game.
The former German under-21 international clearly has talent, but there is little to suggest that Leeds should be rushing to snap him up in January if Hamburg are sitting there open-handed.
If he can improve throughout the season, and perhaps get into better shape, than at the right price Leeds would be right to make a permanent move happen. But if performances like the Brentford game become the norm, Leeds will want to knock the price down as low as possible before even contemplating a permanent deal.
