You wonder, then, whether the decision to loan Pierre-Michel Lasogga to Leeds United could come back to bite them on the backside.
Bild reported that Hamburg were determined to get one of their highest earners off the wage bill but are still responsible for paying the majority of his pay-packet despite the fact Lasogga is spending the season at Elland Road.
And it’s fair to say he’s made a promising start to life in West Yorkshire, following up two well-taken goals in a 5-0 debut thrashing of Burton Albion with an assist to seal a win against Birmingham City.
Hamburg, however, are wondering where the next goal is going to come from.
