Hamburg’s Jens Todt is happy for Pierre-Michel Lasogga after his start at Leeds United.
Pierre-Michel Lasogga has had a bright start to life at Leeds United, scoring twice on his debut.
He followed this up with an assist in his next game, and so far the signs are good that Leeds’ decision to sign him on loan is going to pay off.
This is despite Hamburg going on a run of three games without scoring a goal.
Todt said: “It always happens with a player who doesn’t get enough games, you can think about a loan together.
“With Pierre now it’s exactly what you expect to happen. The player gets games, flourishes and possibly returns well.”
Todt clearly has not closed the door on Lasogga returning to Hamburg next season, with the deal agreed on amicable terms.
As much as Lasogga has to impress Leeds enough to want to sign him permanently, the Whites must also do their utmost to make the German forward want to stay.
Lasogga is earning a hefty wage, much of which is being subsidised by Hamburg.
Their chances of keeping him could depend on winning promotion, giving them more financial ammunition to pay him the salary he will want.
