Achraf Hakimi has been in the headlines as many ask Google about his wife, mum and fortune amid a developing story involving the Paris Saint-Germain star.
The Morocco international was said to have put his assets into his mother’s name as his wife files for divorce, leading thousands online to commend the PSG No.2 for his actions.
However, that does not appear to be the truth – let’s take a look at the situation which has now gone viral…
Hakimi divorce – what happened?
Well, Hiba Abouk – the defender’s wife – has filed for divorce after Hakimi found himself under investigation in a rape case.
Sky Sports report that preliminary charges have been given to the 24-year-old.
After that news broke, a false rumour swept through the internet which claimed that Abouk was demanding more than half of Hakimi’s fortune as part of the divorce settlement, although the Spanish actress would get nothing as her husband placed all of his assets under the name of Sadia Mouh, his mother.
That led to thousands of reactionary posts online from fans, who wrote that Hakimi was “playing 4D chess” and all sorts of nonsense as he was praised for something that he didn’t even do, but the sensationalist nature of the internet gobbled up gleefully with little regard for the truth.
The Africa Report have since posted an excellent story in which this rumour is torn apart.
Their article goes on to state that hiding assets from a spouse is considered an act of fraud in many European countries, including Spain, Germany, Italy and France – adding further doubt to the rumour which went viral.
The case is ongoing.
However, one thing this whole situation has proven is the power of the media.
Someone made an entirely baseless claim, it was picked up by larger outlets, and eventually became known as fact within a matter of weeks – a very frightening sequence of events, to say the least.
Hakimi wife
As aforesaid, Hakimi’s wife is Spanish actress Abouk – full name Hiba Aboukhris Benslimane.
Like Hakimi, Abouk was also born in Madrid, and the pair have two sons together.
The 36-year-old has previously starred in El síndrome de Ulíses, La isla de los nominados and El corazón del océano.
Abouk has also appeared in the Spanish adaptation of Cheers, as well as Con el culo al aire and El Príncipe.
Chelsea want Hakimi
Interestingly, Chelsea are said to want Hakimi at Stamford Bridge.
TEAMtalk believe the Blues are keen to sign the Moroccan as PSG consider a sale to spark a squad rebuild.
