Everton are still in the market for new signings ahead of the transfer deadline, and a deal for winger Nikola Vlasic appears to be edging ever closer.
The Toffees have splashed the cash this summer, landing the likes of Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, Davy Klaassen, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Sandro Ramirez and Wayne Rooney to boost Ronald Koeman’s squad.
However, Everton did also sign winger Henry Onyekuru from KAS Eupen before loaning him out to Anderlecht, and they appear to be lining up a similar deal for another wide man before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
As reported by BBC Sport, Everton are hoping to seal a £10million deal for Hajduk Split winger Nikola Vlasic, with the intention of loaning him straight out before returning to Goodison Park next summer.
Everton took on Hajduk in a two-legged Europa League play-off tie this month, and it seems that 19-year-old winger Vlasic caught the eye of Toffees officials, who have pressed ahead with a deal to sign him.
Vlasic joined Hajduk from Omladinac Vranjic in 2010, and the quick wide man hit four goals and eight assists in the league last season, emerging as one of the top young prospects in Croatia.
On Sunday night, Hajduk president Ivan Kos told Slobodna Dalmacija that transfers can be done right up until the deadline, and whilst losing Vlasic would diminish Hajduk’s quality, Kos couldn’t rule out selling him to Everton.
The deal certainly appears to be close, given that the Croatian FA tweeted this afternoon that Vlasic has been given permission to leave the Under-21 training camp, presumably to complete a move to Everton – but with a loan move likely, he could be signing two deals this week.
