Whether it’s for club or country, Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah invariably finds a way to make headlines.
With 23 goals in 26 outings across all competitions for Liverpool this season, Salah has once again proven himself invaluable to the Anfield outfit.
However, the same applies on international duty.
The 29-year-old fired Egypt into the quarter-final of the Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday night.
Following a goalless draw with Ivory Coast, the contest ultimately had to be settled by a penalty shootout.
And the Liverpool sensation converted his country’s winning effort from 12 yards to send Egypt into the last eight of the competition.
Here’s how Gary Lineker reacted to Salah’s heroics on Twitter following the final whistle.
How are Liverpool doing without him?
Considering his goal return for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season, there were genuine – and valid – concerns about how the Reds would cope without their talisman during this period.
However, Liverpool are unbeaten without Salah and have won four of their five games across all competitions since he left for AFCON.
In addition to that, the Merseysiders have also managed nine goals and although four of those were against Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup, the facts show that at the moment, they aren’t badly missing the former Chelsea attacker, who cost £36 million in 2017.
And with their next three games coming against Cardiff City, Leicester City and Burnley – the first two of which are at Anfield – Liverpool might just survive these period unscathed.
