West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca stunned Michael Brown with his goal at Leeds United in their 2-2 draw. The BBC pundit could not believe the quality of the Italian’s strike.
Scamacca punished Brenden Aaronson’s poor pass just 45 seconds into the second half to give the Irons a 2-1 lead. Lucas Paqueta had only drawn the Hammers level with a penalty in the first minute of first-half stoppage-time, too, following Wilfried Gnonto’s opening hit.

Rodrigo would later snatch Leeds a point as Jack Harrison fed the Spaniard to shoot on the edge of West Ham’s penalty area. The result leaves David Moyes’ Hammers outside of the relegation zone on goal difference to Everton. Both teams have just 15 points in 18 games.

West Ham are also now without a win in six Premier League games having visited Leeds on the back of five consecutive defeats. But Moyes will have taken some relief in Scamacca’s goal. The 24-year-old had failed to strike the back of the net in his last seven appearances.
Scamacca’s last goal before netting at Leeds came on October 9 as West Ham beat Fulham 3-1. The Irons’ £30.5m summer signing from Serie A squad Sassuolo scored in successive league games after also netting against Wolves. But he has fired blanks in 12 appearances.

Scamacca stunned Brown with his goal to put West Ham ahead at Leeds
Brentford were the latest side to stop Scamacca from scoring on December 30 as the nine-cap Italy star rarely looked like scoring. He offered a few nice touches and linked well with his teammates. But the forward was often anonymous outside of his stinging late attempt.
Scamacca was far more involved in the action for West Ham at Leeds and held the ball up well. The Rome-born attacker also showed quick reactions to latch onto Aaronson’s poor pass, take one touch to turn away from Marc Roca and beat Illan Meslier from 25 yards.
Meslier stood no chance at saving Scamacca’s shot as the West Ham striker picked out the bottom corner of Leeds’ net. The ball also flicked home off the inside of the post, stunning former Manchester City midfielder Brown who felt the atmosphere change at Elland Road.
“Leeds started slow – poor, square passes,” Brown stated on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra. “But Scamacca had no right to score there. He bends it right around the defender and in off the post. It’s a fantastic strike and again Elland Road is dejected.”
