Kevin Campbell told the Transfer Show on Sky Sports (17/08/21 at 7:30 pm) that ‘we have had enough’ after he was told that Arsenal are ‘doing all they can’ behind the scenes to get transfers completed.
The Highbury legend shared that Arsenal fans have heard all of that for ‘far too long now’, as the August 31st deadline edges closer.
Edu is the man in charge of steering Arsenal’s transfer ship, aided by the likes of Mikel Arteta, Vinai Venkatesham and possibly Jose Kroenke.
When Sky reporter Dharmesh Sheth told Campbell about what’s happening behind the scenes at Arsenal, in regards to transfers, he wasn’t having any of it because he has heard it all before.
“Behind the scenes, from what I am being told,” said Sheth. “The likes of Edu, Mikel Arteta and Vinai Venkatesham are doing all they can to bring these players in whilst trying to get deals for players they are prepared to listen to offers for.”
“I totally understand, I get it,” responded Campbell. “But this has been Arsenal’s issue for a very long time.
“I think the fanbase, like myself, we have had enough of listening to all of that. We don’t want to hear it. We have heard it for too long now. There has to be a plan. And the plan should have been sorted out earlier on in the transfer window. “
With weeks remaining before the summer transfer window slams shut, Arsenal still have a number of problematic areas they need to sort out.
Another creative player is needed, perhaps another defensive-minded brain in the middle of the park and a right-back.
But that’s not all because Bernd Leno needs a challenger, some would argue that more quality needs to be added at centre-back and then there is the issue upfront.
Arteta may have his problems in getting the best out of these players, but one thing is for sure, they are run in a much worse fashion upstairs.
