Former Leeds United striker Habib Habibou references his old side on Twitter – and fans are worried.

Former Leeds United striker Habib Habibou has referenced the club on Twitter – and fans aren’t quite sure why.
The 30-year-old, who spent six months at Leeds on loan from Zulte Waregem in the second half of the 2012-13 season, tweeted the club’s ‘LUFC’ acronym on Sunday, followed by an emoji which suggests he has retained an affection for the Elland Road side.

Considering Habibou – now at Qatar SC – only made four Championship appearances for the Whites and failed to score, it’s random to the point where you wonder if United have a surprise transfer up their sleeves.
But some fans of the West Yorkshire are hoping that isn’t the case.

The 6’4 powerhouse hasn’t hit lofty heights in football since leaving Leeds, though he did score six times in 13 Ligue 2 games for Lens last season.
Still, surely this is a case of Habibou throwing out something of a red herring – purposely or accidentally – rather than an indication that he is about to re-sign for United – even though they need a striker.
Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Kemar Roofe are struggling big time for goals lately, and a top-class number nine is definitely needed at Elland Road, but it seems nigh-on impossible that Habibou will be the man who they recruit.
