
Some Liverpool fans on social media have been raving over Oakley Cannonier after his performance for the U18s on Saturday afternoon.
The youngster netted twice against Middlesbrough as the young Reds side fell to a 4-3 loss.
The loss will have been gutting for those on the pitch, but at this level, performances are often more important than results, and Cannonier put on a show.
Indeed, the 17-year-old was electric on Saturday. He found the back of the net twice taking his tally in the U18 Premier League to 12 for the season, despite the fact he’s only played eight games.
In fact, Cannonier has scored in every single U18 Premier League game he’s played in this season, so it’s not hard to see why fans are excited about this young man.
One supporter even called for him to replace Roberto Firmino in the coming weeks as the Brazilian faces a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
