Everton will take on Burnley in the Premier League on Friday night in what is their penultimate game of the season.
Gylfi Sigurdsson has admitted that he doesn’t want to praise reported Tottenham target Andre Gomes and Chelsea loanee Kurt Zouma too much because it’ll ‘create awareness’ to other clubs at how well they have done.
Both players are on loan at Goodison Park. Midfielder Gomes is on a season-long loan from Spanish giants Barcelona, while Zouma’s parent club is fellow Premier League side, Chelsea.
Last month, the Telegraph reported that Spurs are looking to snatch Gomes from under the noses of the Merseyside club, who at this moment in time, will lose him in the summer.
Last month, Toffees boss Marco Silva admitted that he wanted to keep the on-loan duo beyond this season, as reported by UK Reuters.
Speaking to Sky Sports News on (01/05/2019 at 5:35 pm), Sigurdsson explained the impact Gomes and Zouma have had on the club since their arrival and what the future holds for them.
“They have been very good, both of them,” Sigurdsson told Sky Sports News. “Both of them are really good players. Probably shouldn’t be praising them too much because it’ll create awareness at how well they’ve done.
“They’ve been fantastic and I am pretty sure that Everton will want to keep them. And I’m pretty sure that the other clubs will want to get them back because they have done that well.
“Very impressed with both of them, not just in games, but they’ve fitted in the squad really well. Both great guys, good to have around and hopefully we’ll see them again [next season].”
If Everton can sign the defensive and midfield duo for next season then it will only enhance their chances of producing the goods on a more consistent basis.
There has been a number of indifferent performances and results this term, but with another transfer window and a more settled squad, fans will back Silva to make it work.
