Everton were trying to get a deal done for Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha, but failed to get a transfer over the line.

Gylfi Sigurdsson should be absolutely gutted about Wilfried Zaha not joining Everton.
Everton worked on a deal to sign Zaha from Crystal Palace for much of the summer, but they were unable to get the transfer over the line.
There was great disappointment about Everton’s failure to get Zaha which was felt at Goodison Park, but nobody should be more gutted than Sigurdsson.
Not only would Zaha’s trickery and pace have created more space for him, but the Ivorian international is also a master a winning free-kicks.
Sigurdsson has a devilish delivery from deal ball situations, and he would have been licking his lips with both Richarlison and Zaha running down either flank for the Toffees.

Both Richarlison and Zaha are so comfortable at running at defenders, that they buy a huge number of fouls.
The £45 million signing’s (BBC Sport) assist numbers could have shot up, if he was presented with even more opportunities to whip balls into the box from out wide.
And even though Everton did bring in Alex Iwobi, Sigurdsson must be so disappointed that Zaha isn’t going to be his teammate next year.
