Has Gylfi Sigurdsson turned a corner this season for Everton?

Gylfi Sigurdsson has conceded that he hasn’t had a brilliant start to the Premier League season with Everton.
The Iceland international dazzled in the Toffees’ 3-2 win over Wolves prior to the international break.
But that performance came on the back of three relatively underwhelming displays from Everton’s record £45 million signing – especially in the defeat by Aston Villa.
Sigurdsson admits that the performance at Villa Park was ‘very frustrating’ for him, but believes that he’s on the right track now.
He told Visir: “The loss against Aston Villa was very frustrating, but we are in sixth place, which is a good start. I wasn’t quite at my best in the first few games, but the last few games have been better.”
The former Tottenham and Swansea star opened his account for Everton this season in the thrilling League Cup win at Lincoln City late last month.
That night, coupled with the follow-up showing against Wolves, indicates that Sigurdsson has indeed turned a corner, but biggest tests lie ahead.
Marco Silva’s side round off their month with a visit of Premier League champions Manchester City on September 28, and if Sigurdsson can maintain this purple patch and post a dazzling display against Pep Guardiola’s side then his early-season struggles will seem a distant memory.
