Dani Ceballos has written on Twitter that ‘something great’ awaits him and his Arsenal team-mates this season.
The Real Madrid midfielder joined the Gunners on a second season-long loan on Friday.
And on Saturday, Ceballos made his second debut for Arsenal in the 3-2 friendly defeat by Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium.
The Spaniard is the third player to join Mikel Arteta’s side this season – after Willian and Gabriel Magalhaes – but with speculation rife about a move for Thomas Partey, he is unlikely to be the last.
Ceballos wrote on social media this afternoon that he’s confident the North Londoners – who won the FA Cup by beating Chelsea last month – can achieve something special during the 2020-21 campaign.
And here’s how Arsenal fans responded to their influential midfielder on Twitter:
Can Arsenal achieve ‘something great’? Well, if you were a betting man, you wouldn’t back against them.
Arteta has masterminded wins over Liverpool (twice), Manchester City and Chelsea since football resumed in June.
The club’s former midfielder has Arsenal playing some eye-catching, effective football and they don’t feel beaten before a ball is even kicked in the big games anymore, which was the case for so long during Arsene Wenger’s reign.
Their aim this season is definitely to qualify for the Champions League, but a top-four finish and another trophy would certainly count as real progress.
