Walsh left Everton to join Bristol City on Friday.

Liam Walsh made his Bristol City debut on Tuesday, four days after signing from Everton.

The Liverpudlian spent the vast majority of his 20 years at Everton, but severed his Toffees ties to join the Robins on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

His Bristol City bow could not have come against tougher opposition – domestically speaking – as he entered the fray with 18 minutes left of his side’s Carabao Cup semi-final first leg tie against Manchester City.

And though the runaway Premier League leaders snatched a 2-1 win courtesy of Sergio Aguero’s stoppage-time strike, Walsh appears to have made a positive impression.

So much so that some Everton supporters are hoping they inserted a buy-back clause into his the midfielder’s contract.

Walsh failed to make a single first team appearance for Everton, but impressed during a loan spell at Yeovil Town.

He spent the first half of this season borrowed by Birmingham City, but was often overlooked by the Blues.
