Crystal Palace’s move for the striker is said to have come too late.

Cenk Tosun would have been a Crystal Palace player now had they moved for him a week earlier, the Besiktas striker told TurkishFootball.com earlier this month.
He claimed the Eagles had an offer of £13.5 million accepted by the Turkish giants on deadline day, but it was too late to conclude a deal.

Palace’s failure to sign Tosun has left Christian Benteke as the club’s only fit senior striker, with Connor Wickham still sidelined.
And the 26-year-old has wasted little time showing Palace what they are missing. Two superb goals, one for Turkey during the international break and another against Porto in the Champions League last night, have only added to the Eagles fans’ frustrations in a turbulent week at Selhurst Park.
