Southampton slipped to defeat to Blackburn Rovers last night after a last gasp winner.

Goalkeeper Jack Rose was the star of the show for the Saints and he hoped his 90th minute penalty save would earn his side a 0-0 draw.

Minutes later into stoppage time Rovers’ Jack Evans scored with an effort from the edge of the penalty area which took all three points.

Saints stopper Rose went from hero to nearly man, and took to Twitter after the game to express his disappointment.

Southampton’s under-23 side sit in seventh place in the table, with Blackburn sitting in first place.

Saints stopper Rose is 23-years-old and joined the club from West Bromwich Albion in the summer after he was released, following loan spells in League Two.

The former England youth international signed on a one-year deal and has been a regular for the under-23s this season, and will hope to finish the season strongly and earn a new contract.
