Liverpool and Newcastle fans have offered their thoughts on Rafa Benitez joining Everton.
On Wednesday, the Toffees confirmed that they have replaced Carlo Ancelotti with another trophy-laden manager in the experienced Spanish coach.
Not many expected such a move at the start of the summer, but despite donning the colours of Liverpool during his early years, he now has the task of steering the Everton ship.
It has sparked quite a reaction on social media, with Liverpool fans understandably preferring that he didn’t take the Goodison Park gig.
On the other hand, Newcastle fans have wished him luck for the new campaign because he was a popular figure in the North East during his time at the club.
When Benitez was at St James’ Park, he had very little to work off and an owner that lacked the ambition to drive the club forward.
But, with these Everton owners, he’s probably going to get the opposite because Farhad Moshiri has proven that he is willing to spend the big bucks.
Last season, the Magpies finished two places below and 14 points behind Everton, so it’s going to interesting to see how things pan out with the duo ahead of the new campaign.
Either way, trying to secure European football will be the ultimate goal for Everton, who also crave that much-needed stability as they prepare to move into a new stadium.
