‘Gutted for him’: Some Rangers fans react to who Gerrard and Wilson have released

Rangers announced this week that six players would be leaving Ibrox when their contracts expire this summer.

But one departing player has upset some Gers fans on Twitter.

Jon Flanagan, Jordan Rossiter, Jason Holt, Wes Foderingham and Andy Halliday will not be Rangers players next season or beyond.

And it’s the departure of the latter that has stung light Blues supporters on social media.

The Rangers-mad Halliday has been a key utility player for manager Steven Gerrard and earlier managers in recent years, after Mark Warburton brought the local lad back to Glasgow in 2015.

But it appears as if Gerrard and Director of Football Ross Wilson have deemed him surplus to requirements.

In terms of attitude, application and hunger, Halliday was faultless during his second spell with his boyhood club.

And some Rangers fans are genuinely sad to see him go. Here’s how they reacted on Twitter this week:
