Arsenal’s season got even worse on Saturday night.
The Gunners lost 2-1 away to Everton and have now won only 14 points in the same number of Premer League games so far this season.
The last time Arsenal won a game was the 1-0 victory at Manchester United on November 1, which was eight matches ago.
Mikel Arteta’s side are 15th in the Premier League and fans of the North London club – who saw their side lift the FA Cup as recently as August – as hurting.
But so too are some of the players – well, at least one of them.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles cut a disconsolate figure on the Goodison Park pitch at full-time, sitting down on the grass.
Here’s how the 23-year-old Arsenal academy product reacted to the result on Instagram:
In fairness to Maitland-Niles, he was one of the visitors’ better players last night, but the English wing-back sn’t the sort of profile who’s going to turn no points into one, or one point into three.
There is a responsibility on other Arsenal players – like Willian – to step up and make themselves counted and they just haven’t been doing that.
