Nottingham Forest have sealed the signing of Liam Bridcutt from Leeds United.

Bridcutt had two seasons at Leeds, one on loan, playing under Steve Evans and then Garry Monk, but new boss Thomas Christiansen preferred alternative options.
If there was one boss who had the most utmost faith in Bridcutt, then it was his former Sunderland coach Gus Poyet.

Poyet raved about him in 2013, claiming he was good enough to play for Real Madrid.
He told The Mail: “If I was coach of Real I would take him because he deserves to go to the highest level.
“As a holding midfielder, there is no better player in the division. So he is quite expensive.
“The best thing about Liam is that he understands me to an incredible level. The way he understands what I want from him is spectacular.”
Perhaps this explains why Real have not come calling for Poyet’s services yet, but clearly he held Bridcutt in high regard, having brought him to Sunderland after starring under him at Brighton.

Bridcutt’s Sunderland career tailed off after Poyet was fired, and he was rescued by Leeds after being frozen out of the first team picture.
He has since re-established himself as a quality Championship player who can be a real asset for Forest.
Mark Warburton may have landed a bargain and Forest fans should be enthusiastic about his capture.
