Juande Ramos remains the last Tottenham Hotspur manager to deliver a trophy.

Gus Poyet has told The Daily Mail that former Tottenham Hotspur boss Juande Ramos deserves a bit of credit for being the last man to deliver a trophy for the club.
The Spaniard led Spurs to League Cup glory in 2008 with a 2-1 win over Chelsea but he and his coaching staff – including Poyet – were sacked eight months later after Tottenham boasted just two points from the first eight games of the 2008-09 season.
By virtue of the fact that the Lilywhites have just topped their Champions League group ahead of reigning champions Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, you could argue that Mauricio Pochettino has brought them to a new level entirely since the days of Ramos.

The North Londoners have had four permanent managers since the ex-Madrid coach departed, but none of them have added to the trophy cabinet and Poyet believes that is a feather in Ramos’s cap.
“I said to a big Spurs fan when we left, “Let’s see when you win the next cup”. It’s been nine years so it is a credit to Juande he is still the last,” he told The Daily Mail.
“The biggest improvement at Spurs is that they are not selling their best players. OK, Kyle Walker left but Harry Kane and Dele Alli are there. If you start losing them, then there is no chance to win.”

Tottenham might win something this season, but it looks like it will have to be either the Champions League or the FA Cup.
Pochettino’s side lost 2-0 to rivals Arsenal last weekend in a defeat which left them 11 points behind high-flying Manchester City at the summit of the Premier League.
