Gunners legend Martin Keown explained how his former club will be watching Spurs’ progression with envy, with Mauricio Pochettino building a ‘special’ team at Tottenham, whilst Arsenal continue to flounder under Arsene Wenger, when speaking on Match of the Day 2.

The Lilywhites kept the pressure up on league leaders Chelsea, with a comfortable 4-0 win over Watford on Saturday, and currently sit 14 points clear of the Gunners in the table, although Wenger’s men have two games in hand over Pochettino’s side.

The Argentine has undoubtedly taken Tottenham to the next level during his time in charge at White Hart Lane, and has built a squad who are not only capable of finishing above their bitter rivals for the first time in 22 years, but also well capable of making a sustained challenge for the title.

And Keown raved about the Spurs side, when speaking on Match of the Day 2, highlighting how Pochettino has built a team of winners:

“These are young men taking responsibility. They’re winners. It’s a group that’s growing together. If you go to White Hart Lane now, they know they’ve got a special team in the making. We watch in envy from north London because it’s a special them they’re developing.”

Tottenham welcome Arsenal to White Hart Lane on April 30th, for a game that could have huge significance in regards to the Premier League title race.

And with the small matter of north London bragging rights up for grabs as a sub-plot, the game has all the makings of a classic.
