Ilkay Gundogan told Fanatik how he believes Leicester City’s Caglar Soyuncu and Everton’s Cenk Tosun could play for Manchester City.

City have struggled to retain their Premier League title this season.

Defensively, Pep Guardiola’s side have lacked leadership with Vincent Kompany no longer around and Aymeric Laporte spending most the season out injured.

Speaking to Fanatik, Gundogan claims Soyuncu has been the second best defender in the Premier League this season behind Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk.

“I agree with the general opinion of the football public. In this season, Çaglar Soyuncu had the best performance in the Premier League after Van Dijk. The first thing that comes to my mind about the Turkish player I want to see in Manchester City is Caglar,” Gundogan explained.

Soyuncu, 23, has enjoyed a terrific campaign as the Foxes sit in third position.

His former agent Mustafa Dogru, however, claims only Liverpool could sign the player who is reportedly valued at £45 million by Spanish editorial AS.

Another Turkish player Gundogan speaks highly of is Everton’s Cenk Tosun.

The striker arrived at the Toffees for £27 million. However, Tosun has since joined Crystal Palace on loan but Gundogan believes he can still reach the very top.

“I can also count Cenk Tosun. He may be at this level in the coming periods. I think he also played well, suffering an unlucky injury.” Gundogan added.

Guardiola’s side may be in the market for a new long-term Sergio Aguero replacement. But Tosun is unlikely to be on the Spaniard’s radar.

The 29-year-old has netted just ten Premier League goals for Everton and Palace combined since arriving at Goodison Park back in January 2018.

Tosun’s contract at Everton expires in 2022. It remains to be seen whether he fits into Carlo Ancelotti’s plans for next season.
