Speaking on the Premier League’s YouTube channel, Bruno Guimaraes has been tasked with building his ultimate 5-a-side team.
The Brazilian had to choose from his teammates, past and present, to make the best team possible, and he was spoilt for choice when it came to goalkeepers.
Indeed as a Brazil international, he could pick between Ederson or Alisson, but interestingly, he left both players out of his side.
Instead, the midfielder opted to choose Nick Pope, stating that the Newcastle goalkeeper is nothing short of being ‘brilliant’.

Pope picked over Alisson and Ederson
Guimaraes showed a lot of faith in his Newcastle teammate.
“A goalkeeper, Alisson, Ederson and Nick Pope?” Guimaraes was asked.
“Oh my gosh, I will take Nick Pope. He’s a brilliant goalkeeper. The others are amazing as well, but I will keep with my teammate, but the three options are amazing players all around, but I will stay with my teammate,” Guimaraes said.
Up there with the best
It may not be fashionable to say it, but based on performances this season, Nick Pope is up there with the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.
Genuinely, he hasn’t put a single foot wrong since joining Newcastle, and there’s a reason he tops the clean sheet rankings right now.
Yes, he was relegated with Burnley last season and he’s not England’s number one, but make no mistake about it, Pope has been one of the Premier League’s best stoppers this season.
Whether or not he’s better than Alisson or Ederson is up for debate, and most would probably argue against that sentiment, but at the same time the numbers don’t lie.
He’s not conceding many goals and he’s keeping a lot of clean sheets.
Pope is up there with the best goalies around right now.
