Guillem Balague has had his say on Gareth Bale’s future at Real Madrid.

The Wales international scored in the Champions League final last weekend after coming off the bench.

The Independent reported this week that Bale could be open to a move to former club Tottenham Hotspur.

Balague said that before discussing destinations, the four-times Champions League winner will wait to see what Real’s plans are for him.

Manager Zinedine Zidane quit the club yesterday, leaving Real and their players facing uncertain futures.

Speaking in the wake of Zidane’s departure, Balague told his YouTube channel: “He (Bale) wants a guarantee he will be important to the side.

“Not so much how many minutes, how many times in the starting line up, but is he going to be important?

“Because if he isn’t, I think, the demand from the agents will be to then let him go.

“It all changes now. Lets see who comes next.”

Bale’s stance after the Champions League final made pretty clear that he is focused on the football side of things.

He has a happy lifestyle in Spain and he wins a trophy pretty much every season, but most of all, he wants to play.

If he returned to England, specifically Tottenham, a starting role would not be in question.

This is where Spurs have an edge, but the ball in in Madrid’s court for now.

Bale’s preference appears to be to stay in Spain if he is wanted, and that is a matter for the club’s new boss, whoever it may be.
