Celtic are looking for a new manager right now, having parted ways with Neil Lennon last week.
A dismal 1-0 defeat at Ross County proved to be the end for Lennon as he tendered his resignation just a matter of days later.
John Kennedy is now in interim charge, but a host of names have been linked with the job over the last week.
Domenec Torrent isn’t exactly one of them, with no concrete rumours about him right now – but that hasn’t stopped fans from talking about him.
One Bhoys fan took to Twitter to mention Torrent’s name to Guillem Balague, though it’s unclear whether that was a piece of inside knowledge or just wishful thinking.
Balague, a Spanish football expert, responded by saying that a deal for Torrent would be ‘interesting’ and ‘very exciting’, highlighting his history alongside Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich and Manchester City.
Balague talked up Torrent’s possession-based football and desire to entertain fans, which may impress Celtic’s board if he does go for the job.
As an aide to Guardiola, Torrent has won seven top-flight titles across stints with Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City, whilst he won almost half of his 60 games in charge of New York City.
The 58-year-old also won nearly 58% games in charge of Flamengo between July and November of 2020, meaning he has shown promise as a manager – and we will now see whether Celtic consider him for the job.
