Guillem Balague shares what everyone has told him about Tottenham’s defeat to Juventus

Tottenham Hotspur were unlucky to be eliminated by Juventus from the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Sky Sports pundit Guillem Balague took part in a Q&A session for Sky Sports today, and responded to a question asking him how fans and pundits in Spain viewed Tottenham’s exit to Juventus in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Spurs were incredibly unlucky to lose to the Italian champions over two legs, and were definitely the better team on the whole for the 180 minutes.

Mauricio Pochettino has worked wonders since taking over at Tottenham in May 2014, but there are questions being asked of his ability to guide his side to a major trophy.

The Lilywhites are undoubtedly a club on the up, however, and experiences like the one they endured on Wednesday night will only help them with their progress and development as a group.

Balague took part in a Q&A session for Sky Sports, and shared what everyone in Spain has been telling him about Spurs’ loss to the Old Lady:

“Football is so cruel, everybody I’ve spoken to has said Spurs deserved more. What I have seen is that Juventus have a narrative linked to their history – and that is that when they are about to be defeated, they are always then at their best. It’s a historical narrative that Spurs don’t have, although the Spurs with Pochettino is a new Spurs.”

Tottenham will now have to refocus their efforts on domestic competition, and face a trip to Bournemouth on Sunday, where a win would see them cement their place inside the top four.
