Antoine Griezmann allegedly wouldn’t consider a move to Liverpool.
Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has told Sky Sports that he doesn’t think Altetico Madrid superstar Antoine Griezmann would consider a move to Liverpool.
Griezmann, 26, made his name with 52 goals in 201 games for Real Sociedad before a 2014 move to Atletico Madrid gave him the platform to become a superstar.
The Frenchman has racked up 90 goals in just 177 games for Atletico, becoming one of the few world-class forwards in Europe and one of the most in-demand players around.
Griezmann is expected to move on from Atletico at the end of the season, with Manchester United and Barcelona both prominently mentioned given that he has a €100million (£88million) release clause in his contract, as reported by The Times.
Many fans would love to see Griezmann in the Premier League, and Liverpool supporters are wondering if the Reds could launch a stunning move to land the forward if Philippe Coutinho leaves.
The pair don’t exactly play in the same position, but adding a player of Griezmann’s quality to Jurgen Klopp’s attack could be huge for the Reds, and £88million may be within their budget if Coutinho goes for even more.
One fan asked Spanish football expert Guillem Balague whether a move to Anfield was possible for Griezmann, but Balague offered a blunt response.
Balague told Sky Sports that Griezmann isn’t thinking about joining Liverpool, as they have yet to prove they can challenge for the Premier League title – and the French international is seemingly looking to join one of Europe’s elite.
“Griezmann is thinking of different things,” said Balague. “Liverpool have to prove they are genuine title contenders again to be able to attract the likes of Griezmann. I don’t think Liverpool are on Griezmann’s radar at this moment in time,” he added.
