The Newcastle United boss is on the bookies’ list of potential Stoke City appointments.

Guillem Balague, Sky Sports journalist talks during day 2 of the Soccerex Global Convention 2016 at Manchester Central Convention Complex on September 27, 2016 in Manchester, England.

Spanish football expert Guillem Balague says nobody from Stoke City has approached Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez.

Stoke are looking for a new manager after sacking Mark Hughes after Saturday’s FA Cup defeat at the hands of Coventry City.

And while there has been no formal link between the Potters and Benitez – who is being forced to wait for Newcastle’s takeover to go through before he can strengthen his squad – the Spaniard could be in contention for the role, according to some bookmakers.

According to Balague, however, there is nothing in it at this present time.

He posted the following on Twitter this morning [Wendesday]:

Another Spaniard, Quique Sanchez Flores, saw his odds on becoming Stoke’s next manager cut significantly on Tuesday.

Balague, however, has cleared up speculation the former Watford manager could be bound for the Potteries.
