Watford could be about to beat Crystal Palace to the signing of Vicente Guiata.
Vicente Guaita of Getafe CF
Sky Sports’ Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has taken to Twitter in order to offer an update on the future of Getafe goalkeeper Vicente Guaita.
Guaita, 30, came up through the ranks with Valencia, making over 100 first-team appearances for Los Che before moving on to Getafe in 2014.
The Spaniard has been a regular for the Madrid-based side ever since, and has missed just one La Liga game this season whilst attracting interest.
Getafe goalkeeper Vicente Guaita
The Independent reported on Sunday that Crystal Palace and Watford are going head to head for Guaita’s signature, with Guillem Balague now offering an update this morning.
Sky Sports’ Spanish football expert Balague has tweeted that Watford are now leading the race for his signature, given that Palace are delaying their decision on a deal.
The Hornets now believe they have convinced Guaita to sign, with a fee below his €8million (£7.1million) thought to be in the pipeline for Watford.

Marco Silva already has Heurelho Gomes and Orestis Karnezis at his disposal, but with Karnezis potentially heading back to parent club Udinese, Guaita could replace the Greek international.
Palace are unsurprisingly in the market for a new goalkeeper given Wayne Hennessey’s shaky displays and Julian Speroni’s advancing years, but their indecision on Guaita could now cost them.
