Tottenham Hotspur’s search for a new manager goes on, and Guiillem Balague has now weighed in on some pretty wild rumours.

Spurs sacked Jose Mourinho in April and have been taking their time over a new appointment, but rumours are now ramping up.

The Athletic reported on Thursday that Spurs have opened talks to land Mauricio Pochettino, attempting to lure their former boss back from Paris Saint-Germain.

Pochettino spent five-and-a-half successful years at Tottenham, turning them into top four regulars, Premier League title challengers and even Champions League finalists.

In November 2019, Daniel Levy chose to sack Pochettino following a poor start to the season, but it seems that he now accepts that decision may have been a mistake.

The problem is that Pochettino is now with PSG, and only took that job in December, meaning it would be bold of him to leave that role and go back to the club that sacked him around 18 months ago.

Balague has now offered his take, given that he is close to Pochettino from his time at Espanyol and even wrote the book ‘Brave New World: Inside Pochettino’s Spurs’ alongside the Argentinian.

Balague has taken to Twitter to claim that Pochettino’s relationship with Levy has improved since they parted ways, and Spurs have asked the question.

However, PSG have ‘no intention’ of letting Pochettino go and can’t believe how much coverage the rumours are receiving given that they won’t even consider a departure.

Pochettino allegedly does want to return to the Premier League one day, but he is planning for next season with Paris Saint-Germain, meaning Spurs may well have to look elsewhere.
