Guillem Balague makes a Philippe Coutinho claim

Barcelona have been linked with Philippe Coutinho of Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

Well-known Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague has claimed on social networking site Twitter that the agent of Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho has an agreement with Barcelona.

Coutinho is one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League and was in great form for Liverpool last season.

The Brazil international, who can also operate as a winger, scored 13 goals and provided seven assists in 31 Premier League appearances for Liverpool during the 2016-17 campaign.

According to The Mirror, Barcelona are ready to make an £80 million bid for Coutinho after their initial offer of £72m was turned down.

Liverpool signed the 25-year-old from Italian club Inter Milan in January 2013 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £8.5m.

Sky Sports journalist and Spanish football expert Balague has claimed on Twitter that Coutinho’s agent has an agreement with Barcelona.

Balague, though, has stated that Liverpool do not want to sell the Brazilian in the summer transfer window.
