Well-known Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague has made a bold claim about Tottenham Hotspur on social networking site Twitter.
Balague believes that along with Leicester City, Tottenham are the great story of 2016. The Sky Sports journalist has highlighted Spurs’ success over the past 12 months.
The North London outfit finished third in the Premier League last season and featured in the group stage of the Champions League this campaign.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are going strong in the league at the moment and could end up in the top four yet again this season.
Leicester are currently in the bottom half of the table, but the Foxes stunned the footballing world last season by winning the Premier League title.
Tottenham should be praised for the way they have taken a pragmatic approach under manager Pochettino, but could their success be term a ‘miracle’?
Probably not.
After all, Spurs do have some very good footballers, such as Christian Eriksen, Hugo Lloris, Harry Kane and Toby Alderweireld.
Moreover, Tottenham are a massive club in North London and have a global fanbase, so it is not as if they have come out of nowhere to start challenging for the Premier League title.
