The pundit insists that Arsenal did not turn down the striker earlier in the transfer window.
Deportivo striker Lucas Perez
Guillem Balague has taken to Twitter to hit back at claims Arsenal turned down striker Lucas Perez earlier in the transfer window.
The Gunners look set to complete a move for the Deportivo La Coruna striker in the coming days, with BBC Sport reporting he is set for a medical this weekend after they agreed to pay his £17 million release clause.
He arrives after they made a move to secure him ahead of Premier League rivals Everton, who were also keen on his signature.

His move comes as something of a surprise, with the Mirror reporting that Arsene Wenger’s side had turned down the chance to sign the striker earlier this summer.
But Balague has rubbished those claims, saying it was simply a matter of Arsenal missing out on top target Alexandre Lacazette.

Arsene Wenger will now be hoping that Perez proves to be a star at the Emirates once he is settled in the side.
It is fair to say that the pressure is on Perez’s shoulders as he is not quite the superstar striker that many Gunners fans were hoping to see arrive.
Should he prove to be a hit though, or at least provide sufficient competition to Olivier Giroud, then Arsenal will be happy they did change their mind.
