Tottenham Hotspur signed Fernando Llorente during the summer transfer window.

Antonio Conte was keen on signing Llorente in the summer, but the Spaniard moved to London rivals Tottenham from Swansea on the final day of the window for £12million.

Llorente, the World Cup winner with Spain, would prove a cheaper alternative to Carroll. Also, Conte is keen to reunite with the 32-year-old at Stamford Bridge – the pair worked together during Conte’s time at Juventus.

However, according to Balague, there is “no expectation of a move”. He adds that Conte likes Llorente, but he doubts whether Spurs would let him go in the January transfer window.
“Conte is interested as he was in the past but, after Spurs rejected a loan to Chelsea, there is no expectation of a move,” said Balague to Sky Sports.
“Carroll was a possibility but he is injured and Conte would like Llorente. Morata would work better with someone like him on his side. Another thing is whether Spurs would let him go and I very much doubt they would.”
