Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has suggested that Real Madrid may be waiting until the end o the season to make a decision on Achraf Hakimi.

Hakimi, 21, has spent two years on loan at Borussia Dortmund. With first-team opportunities hard to come by at Real, he has taken the time to develop in Germany.

The Moroccan has excelled at Dortmund, racking up nine goals and 10 assists whilst predominantly playing as a right back or right wing-back.

Hakimi’s loan deal is now set to end, but with Real already having a settled right back in Dani Carvajal, his future appears to be unclear.

90Min claimed earlier this month that Tottenham Hotspur have launched an enquiry for Hakimi, but so have Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester City.

Hakimi would provide Jose Mourinho with another option at right back alongside Serge Aurier, but a permanent deal seems very unlikely given Tottenham’s budget restrictions.

Spurs could hope for a loan deal, especially as Dortmund have signed Hakimi’s replacement in Paris Saint-Germain defender Thomas Meunier.

Now, Balague claims that Real may see Hakimi as a valuable asset if they end up needing cash, or loan him out again – pointing towards him having little chance of first-team football with Real next season.

Balague added that Real may leave the decision on Hakimi’s future until the end of the season, meaning Spurs still have time to come up with an offer.

“Real Madrid will have to decide, they may see it as an opportunity to actually sell a player if they need the money, or keep him away on loan for another year. We haven’t heard what they have decided yet, because I think they are waiting until the end of the season for that,” he added.
