Birmingham City ended up appointing Garry Monk as their new manager yesterday.
Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has suggested on Twitter that Birmingham City had Victor Sanchez on their shortlist, before appointing Garry Monk as their manager last night.
Birmingham sacked Steve Cotterill at the weekend, and they moved swiftly to put Monk in charge.
The Blues are said to have also considered Sanchez, by Balague, before deciding to move for a British coach.
Sanchez is currently out of work, after parting ways with Real Betis back in 2017.
The 42-year-old boss has also has stints in charge at Olympiacos and Deportivo, but he has never managed in England before.
Birmingham need to hope that they have made the right choice by moving for Monk, as they are under serious pressure.
Birmingham were beaten 2-1 by Nottingham Forest at the weekend, which leaves them stuck in the relegation zone.
The Midlands side are two points adrift of safety, with Monk’s first game in charge coming against Middlesbrough tomorrow.
