Tottenham could pursue a last-gasp deal for Fernando Llorente.
Swansea’s Fernando Llorente celebrates scoring against Sunderland
Sky Sports’ Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has taken to Twitter to claim that both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Swansea City’s Fernando Llorente – but the latter are leading the race.
With the transfer deadline just a matter of hours away, London rivals Chelsea and Tottenham are expected to be chasing new signings, with both sets of fans a little frustrated with the transfer activity conducted by their teams.
Chelsea have missed out on a number of targets and still haven’t added depth in wing back positions, whilst Tottenham have signed three players in the last week to finally kickstart their transfer business, but more new faces are still needed.

It now seems that the two teams will be vying for the same player, with Spanish newspaper AS reporting that Tottenham have made a late move to hijack Chelsea’s bid for Fernando Llorente.
The Blues have been linked with a move for the Swansea City hitman throughout 2017, having worked under Chelsea boss Antonio Conte at Juventus, but they may now be gazumped by Tottenham, who are seeking cover and competition for Harry Kane in attack.
A huge target man with exceptional aerial ability, 32-year-old Llorente doesn’t exactly fit the usual mould of a Tottenham signing under Mauricio Pochettino, but the need for goals may force Spurs to look for a veteran like Llorente, rather than taking another punt on a youngster like Vincent Janssen.

With 15 goals in 33 Premier League games last season, Llorente certainly made an impression in South Wales, and it seems that Tottenham may even be leading the race for his signature.
That’s according to Sky Sports’ Spanish football expert Guillem Balague, who took to Twitter late on Wednesday night to claim that the two clubs are battling for Llorente’s signature, but it’s Spurs who are currently offering the greater deal – though it’s unclear whether that means more money is being offered to Swansea or to Llorente himself.
