Tottenham Hotspur have been in a struggle in recent weeks.

Guillem Balague, Sky Sports Journalist talks during day 2 of the Soccerex Global Convention at Manchester Central Convention Complex on September 5, 2017 in Manchester, England.

Guillem Balague has told BBC Sport that other managers have asked Mauricio Pochettino why he is still at Tottenham Hotspur, believing he could be treated better elsewhere.

Spurs beat Brighton and Hove Albion 2-1 on Saturday evening, snapping a run of three defeats in a row in what has been a tough time for Pochettino and co.

With three 2-1 losses at the hands of Watford, Liverpool and Inter Milan, Pochettino had lost three games in a row for the first time as Spurs manager, before his much-needed win over Brighton.

That should ease the concerns with Spurs, but there are a number of factors that have left some worrying that this may prove to be Pochettino’s final season in charge of the club.

The main concern has been that Tottenham failed to back Pochettino with new signings during the summer transfer window, even after he committed his future to the club by signing a new deal.

Pochettino is regularly linked with the likes of Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, and unless he is backed with funds to improve his squad, the threat of him leaving may linger.

Now, Guillem Balague – the author of the recent book about Pochettino called ‘Brave New World’ – has told BBC Sport that others managers have asked Pochettino why he hasn’t left Spurs yet, seemingly believing he would be better off elsewhere, but Tottenham fans will be delighted with the former Southampton manager’s continued loyalty.

“If I was Pochettino, I would be very frustrated with my current situation, having signed a new five-year contract in May,” said Balague. “But after doing that and by giving Spurs another opportunity to put their faith in him right now – and vice versa – nobody owes anybody anything any more. Any other manager would probably have left already, and I know there are other bosses out there who have asked Pochettino why he is still there,” he added.
