Luis Enrique has been tipped as the ideal candidate to take over at Arsenal when Arsene Wenger steps down.
Sky Sports pundit and Spanish football expert Guillem Balague talked up the possibility of Luis Enrique being named as the new Arsenal manager, when speaking exclusively to Sky Sports, and insisted that the former Barcelona boss would ‘love’ to be handed the reigns at the Emirates.
Arsene Wenger’s 22-year reign in charge of the Gunners will come to an end next month, and there has been no shortage of names linked with the Arsenal hot-seat since the announcement was made that the Frenchman would be stepping down at the end of the season.
Enrique, who is currently out of work, is one of the names being banded about, and he is the current 5/2 favourite to get the Arsenal job, according to SkyBET.
Balague is certainly a big fan of the Spaniard, and he told Sky Sports how he would be a perfect fit for the Gunners hot-seat:
“I tell you what Arsenal needs, it’s Luis Enrique. Would he fancy it? He would absolutely love it. Why? Because after a year sabbatical he is ready to come back, he has had all kinds of offers. PSG were certainly one of them, but I do believe that Arsenal have not made a step yet to negotiate. Luis Enrique is available, and he has left himself available because he wants to get the right job. Luis Enrique loves the Premier League, always loved playing in England, and sees things in England that he didn’t see in Spain; the relationship with the fans and how the fans relate to the game.”
The 47-year-old implemented an exciting and attractive brand of football during his time in charge at the Camp Nou.
He also guided Barcelona to two league titles, three Cope del Reys and a Champions League during his time at the helm, and Arsenal fans would surely be delighted to see him pitch up in north London this summer.
