Celtic have been linked with a move for Wolfsberger striker Shon Weissman – but Ronaldo will be involved in them missing out.

The Telegraph reported in June that Celtic had identified Weissman as a top target to replace Odsonne Edouard if the Frenchman moved on.

Celtic have had strong ties to the Israeli market under Neil Lennon, with the likes of Efe Ambrose, Rami Gershon, Nir Bitton, Beram Kayal, Hatem Abd Elhamed and Ismaila Soro all arriving thanks to links in the Israeli market.

Israel international Weissman there did make some sense, and his goalscoring record since joining Wolfsberger last summer has been sensational.

Weissman smashed 37 goals and eight assists in 40 games last season, becoming a wanted man around Europe.

Now, Spanish football expert Guillem Balague claims that Weissman is all set for a move to Real Valladolid, with the contract being drawn up.

Balague noted that Ronaldo – the Brazilian legend who is owner and president of Valladolid – loves Weissman and has pushed the move through.

The 24-year-old is now set for a big move to Spain’s top flight, and rules Celtic out of the race for his signature should Edouard move on before the transfer window slams shut.
