Arsenal have spent most of January chasing the 25-year-old midfielder.

Guillem Balague has revealed on Twitter that Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Barcelona’s Denis Suarez, but both clubs are yet to agree on an obligatory purchase fee.

The Spanish midfielder has been linked with a move to cash-strapped Arsenal, who can only sign players on loan in January.

Mundo Deportivo reported on Tuesday that his proposed move to North London had collapsed.

But respected La Liga journalist claims on Twitter that hasn’t quite happened, insisting that although personal terms have been ironed out, Barcelona want the Gunners to commit to an obligatory purchase fee at the end of his initial loan.

Aaron Ramsey has agreed to join Juventus on a Bosman this summer but some reports on Tuesday suggest that the Wales international could make the switch this month.

Ramsey was brilliant in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Chelsea this past weekend and it would be disastrous if Unai Emery lost him mid-season – and even worse if the Suarez situation cannot be resolved before the transfer window shuts.
