Tottenham are reportedly rivalling Manchester City for Lorient teenager Matteo Guendouzi.

Mauricio Pochettino is known for his faith in youth as a manager and that could be the reason behind Tottenham Hotspur’s reported interest in Lorient teenager Matteo Guendouzi.
Sky Sports claim that Manchester City are rivalling Spurs for the 18-year-old midfielder’s signature, who has continued to impress in the orange of Ligue 2 side Lorient, already clocking up 21 senior appearances.
Sky Sports also reported last week that Spurs’ scouting team had been tasked with finding Belgium international Mousa Dembele’s successor, who is set to enter the final 18 months of his contract in north London.

Now, that replacement could have been identified in Guendouzi and could spell the end of Dembele’s association with Pochettino’s side despite being a favourite of the Argentinian manager’s.
Spurs boss Pochettino claimed back in April that Dembele was a “genius”, and ranked him alongside four other players the former Southampton and Espanyol manager has played with – Ronaldinho, Ivan de la Pena, Diego Maradona and Jay-Jay Okocha.
However, now in his thirties, the former Fulham ace’s position is under threat due to the emergence of England international Harry Winks while the return of Victor Wanyama is set to see Dembele drop down the pecking order.

Known for his aggression and speed in the middle of the park, one-time France Under-20 international Guendouzi is quickly becoming renowned as one of France’s uncovered gems in their second tier.
But with City and Spurs alerted to his presence, surely time is up for Dembele at Wembley if Pochettino lands the French youngster in the upcoming January transfer window?
